Anyone who calls this number will directly reach a Highway Patrolman. They WILL come to the aid of the motorist – There is no charge for this. If the caller also wants a repair service, such as towing, repairs, locksmith, etc. that service will be contacted and, obviously, will need to be paid for by the driver. The important part of the message is that the Highway Patrol will respond to anyone calling this number. For anyone driving along a deserted road at night, who is being followed, has seen something suspicious or fears a dangerous situation, regardless of whether their car is broken down or not, this is an excellent thing to be informed about, especially in this day and age.
